unique exhibition is a joint
educational venture between the City of
Joondalup, the Department of Corrective
Services and Edith Cowan University,
and features artworks by Aboriginal
prisoners at Casuarina Prison. Designed
to facilitate greater understanding of
the ongoing social, political and cultural
challenges facing Indigenous Australians,
the exhibition is also a celebration of
Aboriginal history and culture.

artists at Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery.

NAIDOC event will open with a Welcome to Country from
chair of the Winjan Aboriginal Corporation Franklyn
Nannup, a dance and didgeridoo performance, and addresses
by the mayor of Mandurah and chair of Challenger TAFE
governing council Paddi Creevey and Challenger TAFE
managing director Liz Harris.

will experience contemporary and traditional work, including
charcoal drawings, paintings, installations and a cultural
display.

NAIDOC celebrations in Yanchep National Park will
include a number of fun activities that will be available
for all
visitors to enjoy. Face painting, boomerang throwing
demonstrations, boomerang painting and a didgeridoo
performance will all be on
offer. A bush meat BBQ will also be available at 12
noon
for a $2 donation. The fun starts around 10am and
will run
throughout the day. Some activities will require bookings
so
make sure you arrive early. Standard park entry fees
