A message from The Family Violence Court Project To
All Noongar Artists

The Family Violence Court is looking for up and coming Noongar Artists from around the Perth area. We are seeking the services of a local artist who paints the traditional Noongar way to prepare a piece of “Public Artwork” that will mark the opening of the Family Violence Court.

If this sounds like you read on for further instructions.

  • We use a discussion process when selecting an artist which involves consulting with the Family Violence Court Project’s Aboriginal Reference Group.
  • This Aboriginal Reference Group consists of Aboriginal Elders, Aboriginal Community People/Workers and people who work for the Department of the Attorney General.
  • If you are interested please contact me by 20 June 2008 so I can explain the process, timelines of the project and most importantly the Standards of the art work we are looking for.
  • The art work will form an important part of the commemoration of the launch of the Perth Family Violence Court. The launch of the Perth Family Violence Court is due to open near the beginning of September 2008.
  • The Perth Family Violence Court will be operating out of Perth Magistrates Court, 30 St Georges Tce, Perth.

If you feel that you would like to be considered for the commissioning of this piece of work or want to know more about this opportunity, please call or email Ben O’Donnell at the Department of the Attorney General on Phone No. 9425 7533 or alternatively Andrea Walsh on Phone No. 9425 2526.
